    Hi All

Has anybody had the new comfort seats fitted for the new Speedmaster?

I have them and my partner is giving me severe grief over the so called "comfort " of it.

The top of the seat is domed so as soon as I pull away she slides against the chrome back rest.

This is leaving a mark across the bottom of her back and she says its like "sitting on a brick".

These cost a pretty penny and mine is lovely

She is now at the point where she does not want to go on the bike until it is sorted.

We drove over to Staffordshire Triumph and "Paddy" the service guy had a look and said it doesn't look as though they thought about the passenger when designing the seat, more the curve to follow the mudguard.

I do not want to add a backrest as this spoils the line of the bike in my opinion but saying that the seat should be comfortable to sit on.

My only other thought is to get the seat re sculptured but should I have to?

Looks forward to your comments :)

    Mark

Well unfortunately, from what you’re saying, it is what it is, and restructuring would be the only answer and a hell of a lot cheaper than buying the k&q seat Although if it’s following the line of the mudguard it might be difficult to flatten it off. How was the stock seat? If that was ok get someone to copy the pillion off that.

As so few of us take pillions I'm not surprised the designers don't take their needs into account as much as the rider. I'd also suggest having a conversation with a trimmer who can re-sculpt the foam to suit you both.

I suspect many bikes are sold by showroom appearance rather than pure function. A king and queen seat is butt ugly to my eyes but disappears under a rider....

    Hi Guys

    Had reply from Triumph

" Sold hundreds with no complaints and no intention to modify in near future".

In answer to Crispey the stock seat was narrower and very uncomfortable.

Looks like getting the seat resculptured :mad:

I bought a gel seat for my Thrux off someone here, reasonable price etc but I’d be buggered if I could tell the difference. Except it had a blue label not a black one!

True, I didn't like the back rest on the red one, but I could cover hundreds of miles a day on those seats, nore than I could say riding the 'ironing board' back to Bath from Norfolk, that soon went for the K & Q!
    My Mrs liked them too!

No passenger issue for me, but I’ll say the rider “comfort” seat for the new Speedmaster is awful! Really ruins the bike for me.

Hate to disagree with you on that one but the drivers seat is very smart and very comfortable I have no issues with it.

I am just off to get the pillion seat altered, hopefully he can use the skin so it matches

Hi Mark, great result for you and your wife. It sounds like the modifications have work a treat; where did you get the seat mods done?

Thanks for the details, looks like he will be getting some work.

Pick my new Speedmaster up on Saturday so I can see a pillion seat rebuild being the first job.
