I’d start with a VERY course grit . Glad you’re OK. Care to expound on how this refinishing became necessary???
Thankfully i think i have some 400 grit. Not me...this time. Mate lost the back end over a hump bridge, by the time he gained control was into a 90 deg left hander, went straight into the hedge
A salutary lesson in what we truly value......the bike can be fixed but if it saves a future tragedy it will have been cheaply won experience. Glad it was no worse. Whenever I ride I keep reminding myself of Inspector Harry Callahan’s wise words, “A man’s gotta know his limitations...”.
Ouch! Shows where they're saving weight these days. The upside down forks I had on my GSXR1100L were so thick, when one was involved in an accident like this, the frame would snap before the forks..... And if it had been an old SuperDream, they would have been replacing the curb instead
The main thing is your mate is ok. I have had my crashes and shed tears looking at my mangled pride and joy. But I have always appreciated the fact that I walked away without any broken bones and continued to enjoy my motorbike rides A little time, patience and money will get the bike back on road. Hope it all works out.
Indeed, paramedic was suprised at how well he came out and hes counting his lives. Bikes a write off, good reason to buy something different.
.......something with ABS maybe? Not surprised it is an uneconomic repair. Forks, wheel, tyre, headstock, headers, radiator, engine covers, etc, Watching track racing we tend to forget the biggest risks on the road are the solid objects that cause violent deceleration. Sliding to a gentle halt is for the lucky....
Probably the old adage “only ride as fast as you can see the distance you can safely brake in” or he was wheelying over afore said hump !! Glad all involved ok. Have fun with the insurance company. See if they try wriggle ?
Glad I'm not dealing with them, hes only just got it after the last street r got nicked, spent all of saturday servicing it at mine.
