Update. The day after I dropped it off at the newsagents I got an email saying it had arrived in Romania! At lunchtime today I got an email saying it was sorted and on its way back. They gave me a UPS tracking number and it was picked up in Romania at 13:00 and, scanned into the airport at 15:30 and scanned out of the airport an hour and a half later. It is scheduled to be with me before 17:00 tomorrow. Not a bad job TomTom.
I bought a Tom Tom Start 60 a couple of years ago (I know its a car job but I am tight and it was cheaper than bike ones) it hangs from the top of the screen on my 93, 900 Trophy so that it is in my eyeline, (no need to nod to see it). For the last few miles of a journey it is brilliant for finding the exact address in a new town, otherwise I put in destination postcode, motorways or not and let it take me and it has worked well except it didn't know Morocco, but there are fewer roads there to choose from so no problems. Not a good idea to rely on it for speed limits as often local authorities alter them usually down so you can be caught speeding. In Norway it said "this route has unsurfaced sections" but I took it anyway, it was loose gravel but not deep enough to cause any problem. I wouldn't be without it now as it saves so much time by not getting lost.
As long as you keep moving, take it off when parking. OK so far! it is protected behind the screen most of the time.
Hey Mr O. If the meds allow you to can you add me to the group? User name is, you guessed it, Sir Trev.
TomTom or Garmin will be fine and you don't need the top of the range ones if you just want a simple route finder or way to follow a pre-set track you make on the computer first. Invest in a decent locking system and play with locations so it's comfy/easy to see and off you go. Look out for models that have been replaced with newer ones as you can sometimes get good deals. Personally I'd go for the dedicated bike models as they're rugged and waterproof, plus the mounts can be easily powered and hold the unit more securely.
For anyone who is going on the 2018 Scotland road trip,i have put the daily routes and the whole route up on the Triumph forum page,i have also put some info in the "Route information" and in the "Comments" if you have not joined the group yet do a search on the myroute app site for "Triumph forum" and ask to join..if you have any problems ask @MrOrange he has the key to let you in!
just checked and for some reason the comments can only be seen if you click on my name and look in my routes,so it might be better to copy the routes from there rather than the triumph forum route page as it won't let me edit it
Hi there, sorry I haven’t read all through the thread but has anyone got a good option for iPhone 8 holder for the scrambler 2013. Waterproof. Thanks

I used an ultimate motorcycle waterproof mount for my iphone 5, if they make one for the 8 I'd recommend it
