You have an interesting point which I also ask and scratch my head over. It could be as you say, a two cylinder ‘single’ where they both spark at the same time or they could still rise and fall the same but whilst one is firing the other one is on induction. On another matter, my other in-line twin has an ER6 motor in it and it sounds shit like a commuter, when I run my bonneville next to it (also inline but parallel) it sound so British and has a different sound to it totally but let’s not mix that up with the 270” sound from the scramblers or speedmasters.
Yeah, darkman agrees, concentric fitted from 68 onwards. The bike has had a few upgrades during its 12 activite years. Supposedly a good upgrade, so I'm happy with that
Application for original registration and a v5. Keeping the original ve. 50, for my records, so sent them a photocopy, because they wouldn't lose it, or just bin it would they! Carbs off. Give them a bit of a clean, then Callumity has kindly offered to chuck them in his ultrasonic cleaning thingymajig. Good man. God knows what size bolt that was holding them on? About 13.1 mm!!!!! Not much progress this weekend, been doing some arrow chucking stuff and taking the dug onto the beach
I saw the question about the carbs and I can add this to the mix. The first photo is the source and then the two detail pages are for 1966 and 1967. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to all Triumph fans. I picked it up on Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Complete-C...ook+of+classic+and+modern+triumph+motorcycles
Thanks for posting H D, I now know my long term memory is OK re the carbs question. It must be my short term memory that’s suspect,,,,,,,
I am the proud owner of DU 31600, a 1966 T120 R then. Dilli - Was any relative of yours work at Triumph, specifically in charge of stamping engine numbers ??? Looks like he had a bloody skinful before doing mine back in '66 !!!! Should there be a frame number ? Had a look but not seen it yet!
Your spares source, if necessary..... http://amalcarb.co.uk/carbspec/carburettor/spares/id/6780/ Burlens in Salisbury. Used them myself years ago for various vehicles when I lived down there.
Managed to eventually get they trumpet things off the carbs (heat em up says Darkman, worked a treat) Quick wipe down and ready for a wee jacuzzi . Right carb is as was, left was a wee scrub down.
Head has steel inserts and i have never seen a problem with Triumph valves or valve seats, use super unleaded
Only when they are bell shaped The straight ones are Velocity Stacks! Pedantic b*****d at your service......
Just to confirm that they are and were called Bellmouths From someone who was riding and had them on his Triton back in 1967 and other bikes since
