Hi guys as a newbie on the forum I own a 1996 Thunderbird 900 and a 1997 Speed Triple Mk 1.

I want a new set of front footrest rubbers for my Tbird. Seems Triumph fuse the rubber to the footrest and charge a total of £130 for two new footrests. Does anybody know if anybody manufactures replacement rubbers please, as I am struggling to justify spending this sort of sum on two footrest rubbers? I have tried places such as Norman Hyde & Sprint Manufacturing.

Thank you in anticipation of any assistance. Cheerz

Not sure, but have a look at Sprint Manufacturing. www.triumphparts.gbr.cc They do a fair range of bits and pieces for older bikes.

Thanks Dave and for all the help I am getting; much appreciated. I have had a look at these foot rests on Ebay. It seems that one has a, shall I call it, a hero blob on the end. I bought a really good pair of these, which are for the Speedmaster and America, having been assured they will fit the early Thunderbird 900. Unfortunately, whilst they look absolutely identical to the original, they are ever so fractionally to wide to mount on the footrest hanger on the Tbird. So still looking but thanks again for all the help. Cliff

as the early hinckley triumphs used a modular frame i imagine the various models shared a lot of the same parts, i had to replace the footrest rubbers on my 1993 Daytona 900 and i'm sure i was able to buy just the rubber..or i might have just swapped the rear footrest rubber over:confused:,definitely didn't have to buy the whole footrest..maybe by the time your tbird was made the footrests were all differant..might be worth trying some bike breakers

I have a full set for the America, is it not possible to make the ones you have fit by removing a little of the extra wide piece, ?

They must have been made out of soft rubber as mine were knackered after about 15k:confused:

Changed the footrest rubber today - I had a spare one - but still need to get a gearchange jobby pretty soon. That is the second time I've changed the footrest rubber in 51,500 miles so not too bad I suppose. Probably have to do the rest sometime in the next couple of years!

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated.

I am going to try and modify the Speedmaster footrests I think to make them fit. This will only involve machining a couple of thou off either side of the footrest and polishing them afterwards.

Doug the footrest rubbers fitted to your Daytona are identical to the rubbers fitted to my Mark 1 Speed Triple 900 and are available from Sprint Manufacturing and inexpensive and easy to fit. The Thunderbird footrest rubbers are totally different.

Brian I would happily cut off the existing rubbers but I don't have anything to replace them and there is no way you could easily modify other rubbers to fit.

But thanks for all your suggestions and replies guys. Cheerz Cliff
