Cheers Wessa, this is what I need some reviews The Frank Thomas looked good but was flimsy, To show how stuck I am, I am even willing to spend money, only ;- I had a 15 quid waterproof suit at last years GMU and it didnt leak either.
    I want.

    Thick leather,
All leather, ( so I can dubb it up)
    Stud fasteners.
    Hard armour
Why is that so hard, isnt that the default bike jacket 101?

Im off to look at Rukka and Merlin

Yup! Pretty much a grand for a jacket and 800 quid for the trousers. I've bought bikes for less!

I like Frank Thomas stuff for it's value and quality and not just because it started life in the heart of the Rose of the Counties. Frank Thomas was acquired by J&S along with other brands seven or eight years ago. Manufacture of the brand's boots, gloves and clothing had already been moved to Asia, but seamstresses and machinists still operate out of the J&S Finedon warehouse site doing warranty repairs and alterations. It's where I go to buy a lot of my motorcycle gear when I'm not getting Triumph branded stuff. My oldest surviving gloves are at least 25 yrs old FT leather. FT Aquatex was about the first waterproof textiles on the market. But premium quality it ain't.

My Triumph textile keeps me dry, but the outer fabric absorbs water so it becomes extremely heavy and cold of course no matter how much Nikwax I wash in. Think I'm going to invest in some Gortex this year.

Cheers Doug thats the exact type of thing.
I email the seller to check sizing.
They have no feedback, which is a concern.

Sprinter, the jacket comes with full Safe Tec armour ...shoulder,elbow and 9mm firm foam back.Sizing is right for me,I am M size, jacket length is (690mm) and sleeve length is perfect.A quilted inner jacket also is also in place, giving a snug warm fit, when removed for summer wear it gives a bit more room, all in all suits me fine, was out a couple of days ago and was caught out with heavy sleet / rain well pleased with the outcome ......nice and dry :)

So I checked out some reviews and, a bit of a cross over here,

this guy recons the Merlin Yoxall is as good as his Rukka. He also thinks that 1900 miles is more than the expected life time of a jacket, which is not selling him to me as a reviewer.
    Revzilla sold this to me.

I dont want to say,' Ive bought this' so Ill say, ' its being sent to the house.'

My new jacket arrived today.I put it on and was happy with it straight off
I have little more to add to the reviews, except to say I agree with all they said.
Heavy, thick, You feel like your wearing protection.
Watch the reviews with confidence. size is right too.
Third time lucky I finally get a jacket I am happy to wear, on a motorbike, rain or shine. Good price.
Thank you @Jerry Winder @lexy There is nothing I dont like.
