Programme on bbc tonight 23:15 inside Britain’s moped gang crimes. Interesting but is it glorifying them? They talk briefly about which bikes to steal or not.

Well, basically it comes down to the fact that their hard done by, not got a job, no youth centres etc etc, so they spray people with acid, rob jewellers and terrorise delivery riders and nick their mopeds. Interestingly they say of all potential nickable bikes they leave the covered ones alone!
There was one success story though, one guy was able to retire back to Nigeria and live off his proceeds from stealing mobiles!!

Back in 1976 me and 2 mates rode to Portmadoc on our mopeds and camped for a week, I was on my purple FS1E, my mates on a Garelli Tiger Cross and a Gilera Trail.
Were we a moped gang I now wonder?

This also came up recently in another article on bike security - that covering your bike is the most effective way to protect it against thieving b*stards.
It appears they are too lazy to bother lifting the cover to see what's underneath!

Aldi do a cheap bike cover when doing their bike stuff. Got one, barely water resistant but handy for touring and if you lose it, it blows away etcetera you havent lost much. Perhaps in this scenario it might have further theft resistance.... if you cant be arsed to spend on a cover...
