It's time to sell my 2016 Speed Triple R with 3,648 dry miles on the clock. Condition is absolutely immaculate - I've avoided water like the plague and it's been regularly treated with ACF-50 since new. There's no sign of corrosion anywhere. Tyres are in good shape (complete with chicken strips) and my mechanically sympathetic riding style has made use of the full rev range, but without abusing it in any way. Triumph accessories include: Colour coded seat cowl Rubber tank pad Datatool alarm with two remote fobs If you research my posts on here, you'll see that I've removed some accessories (notably carbon bits) to transfer to my next bike. I'm keeping the Arrow cans too - so the stock exhaust has only seen 500 miles during the running in period. It needs swapping back to the stock exhaust map (booked in for Monday 12 March) and the next service is due in May, at which point the recall for the link cable will need doing too. There's a bit of warranty left - until 9 April 2018, which at least provides some extra protection for the next owner. The selling price is £8,950.
The trick with ACF-50 is not to spray it all over, because it attracts the dirt, which then sticks to it. I use the same microfibre cloth that's become impregnated with the stuff and I store it in a sealed bag (the cloth, not the bike). A thin layer, used little and often as part of a regular regime, works wonders. I've managed dry miles, but Thames Water have some well established leaks round here, so of course it gets wet. The headers had some engrained dark spots, but the ACF-50 reversed the rust (somehow). The headers smoke a bit as it burns off, but it only last a few minutes - and I like the smell The first thing I'll do with the RS when it arrives, is bring it up to standard My cleaning habits come from detailing cars - here's my previous 'RS' (sold in 2016 when I defected to motorcycling):
That was a show-winning car...and really quite special. To be fair, the paintwork looks like that because it's been wet sanded to flatten it. The wax is Chemical Guys 'KORE Paste Wax R4 Dark'. Edit: Sorry...you asked me which polish...it's polished with Prima Amigo Polymer Glaze (very light compound)...and waxed on top of that. On top of the wax, it's treated with Chemical Guys Hybrid V7 Sealant/Gloss Enhancer. I'll shut up now .
Well it's all done. Money in the bank; handover done (which was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, because who doesn't like pouring over the details); watched it ride away. Very pleased to have attracted the perfect new owner - he's just texted me to say he's been out with his 7-year old son riding pillion. OK, so Mother's day has suffered a bit in their household - but a great day for the boys One month to wait for the replacement
I've ordered the Speed Triple RS in Crystal White (after much deliberation and a colour change after ordering it) - I'm feeling very excitable now!
I'm glad you think so . Triumph haven't made it easy for those of us where white isn't our first choice. I've got some gloss carbon bits - a rear tail light surround, rear hugger and chain guard, and the exhaust heat shield. I think (hope) the shiny white/black combo will look stunning...and it will meet my need for constant polishing
Everyone seems to be going for the white from what I've heard. I have, even though white is not my favourite colour, but definitely preferable to the matt black. Still looking forward to it though
