Thanks everyone for prompt payment:) Sunday, Monday & Tuesday you pay on arrival.
    Sunday hostel is £20.00 pp
    Monday hostel is £24.00 pp
Tuesday hostel they had a one 5 bed room with an en suite at £27.00 pp
and one triple room without an en suite at £22.50 pp..I'm thinking it would be fairer if we all just pay £25.31?

i thought this might be a good run on the Monday night when we are at Corran before we head out for something to eat ..a wee short 8 mile run up to Fort William then a 5 mile run on this road that takes you to the bottom of Ben Nevis.

On the Tuesday we should arrive on Skye in the afternoon so i thought if we wern't too late we could dump our baggage off at the bunkhouse and either have a run up to Portree and back (65 mile) or do the full loop (100 mile) or the 1/2 loop (80 miles)

Hols great ta, going home tomorrow. No snow really, just a little flurry. Thing is though, the day after we came up, all the roads got blocked.

Loch Ewe was a forming up point for convoys heading Transatlantic. There are also blockhouses on the other side of the Loch entrance at Mellon Charles which are slightly easier to get to but not that exciting unless you are a concrete connoisseur and know your baseplate diameters to site your QF 3.7” etc. It is still occasionally used for exercises. There is also a NATO refuelling point at the head of the Loch with a small jetty. I am not sure how much use it still sees having last been there in 1996

The Aultbea Hotel used to be lined with wartime photos of the comings and goings.

One for the odd names thread I had forgotten......’Bubbles’ - one of my colleagues who, fully equipped, missed the scrambling ladder on the ship.........we got him out but the name stuck!
