Just wanted to show this especially to the 675 riders. This is my boy last year where he was lying second in the Thunder ace. Till sadly he smashed himself up. I did think he would pack it in but once again he's out there looking for a bike or sponsor and says he will clean up this year.
    Happy new Year everyone.
    Joe.

Good luck to him and all the best from the forum.
Nothing finer than competition, riding bikes, racing cars, shooting arrows, doesn't matter what, once your hooked, your hooked.
Took up bikes too late in life to go racing, but had I done it when younger, I surely would have raced.

Thanks everyone yes he will I do know he is going to Spain over the next couple of months to test a Pannagale for a team. I don't know much about it except its not his bike where as the 675 was his own build and spannered by him plus all servicing which is something he is especially good at especially electrics. Thanks for the support and I will get him to stay interested in Triumph's and support them as much as poss.
    Happy New Year To All
    Joe.

Thanks. Like I said I would be happy if he would take up Golf but he has the bug. And his Mother say's when you give up biking then he will consider it when I ask her for support. But all said and done he loves it and strangely enough is pretty good at it. Like I said he was lying second in the Thundersport last year and probably would have kept it if the bike had not flipped on him.
    Kind Regards
    Joe

I know Joe, if in your blood it takes a lot if anything to shake it, I've seen the ups and downs of racing as my neighbours daughter does, she started off in junior motocross, then to supermoto and is now in her second year of road racing, running a Daytona funnily enough and she's 19, says her dream is to race at the Isle of Man.

    Regards,
    Dave.

I reckon he needs to put a bit more effort in, that knee slider is nowhere near grounding out :p Seriously though, I wish him all the very best, he's clearly got way more talent than many of us on here and to get to 2nd in that championship is very good going. I watched a few races when I had my MT 09 as the business manager at the dealers I got it from was also racing in that series and there were some seriously good riders with well set up bikes. Best of luck for 2018.

There's a couple more people. I do have some with sparks but they won't load for some reason and a couple with him trying to fly but again they don't want to load. Yes I have seen some of the boys there and it's scary. Even addiction can't be that crazy surely. I will of course support him all I can. It used to make me quite sad that he was there hands and knee's building an engine as the one in the bike let him down like 675 riders will know when there engines go they go big time. But he'd be there all night preparing another engine and back on the track next day. Where most other riders returned the bike to their pits and wheeled out a replacement. And that is what makes me so proud of him he would never give up. I think he had just the two engine blow ups last year but it cost him the chance of first place.

Your lad certainly has dogged determination to feed his passion, I can totally understand how you must feel being a dad too, the nature of the sports means even the best if the best take tumbles but I hope your lad has made a good recovery and all the very best for his 2018 season.

I started racing at 47, just for a season, just to tick it off mi bucket list. It was a series for roadbikes (allegedly!), and just at Mallory Park. I ended up doing 3 seasons, raced all over t'country, and only stopped cos I was skint. I would do it again in a heartbeat, even though I'm 60 now. I TOTALLY understand what your son feels.

Dozers Dad. Do you know I was born in Bushmills try to go home every year if I can and a lot of you people will say I am to blame but I always try to make it coincide with the North West or the Ulster GP. And Foxy Yes I do try to understand being brought up in bikes and racing not my self but my dad loved it. And as I say I'd rather it was you than my beloved Son. He has just informed his Mum and Me he is going to Spain next month to test Ducati for a team that he is going to ride this year. Even faster What have I done to get this punishment on my nerves I to am Sixty and at my age I should be taking it easy not having heart attacks every time he goes crazy on a track. But yes I do under stand the bond between riders and their machines.

I also understand how you and your wife feel, too. My parents, especially my Mam, used to come to the meetings. After I crashed at Gerards, (Mallory), my Mam said she wasn't coming anymore, as it was too much for her nerves. She missed the next meeting, and said that that was even worse, cos she was sat at home, waiting for a phone call from my wife to let her know I was ok, after each race. My wife, I hasten to add, was also a bag of nerves every time I went out on track. I tried to reassure my loved ones by telling them that it was far, far safer going fast around a circuit, than thrashing around our overcrowded roads.

Yes I know all that. But he's my boy and he's not happy being second even last year he tried to compete in the last three meets just in case he might slip into first place. The boy had his shoulder all strapped up his leg was bright purple from the inside groin to the knee and his hand was strapped. He retired after a lap and settled for the words I'll be back. His Mum does not help because she says when you give up bikes I will support you in telling him not to compete. So yes I know how you Family felt as sometimes I have to work and I am phoning him every hour. Just can't help it as the other side I am so very proud of him living his dream but he's my Son and I would rather he'd take up Golf or Fishing.

Great to see the young and old out there racing I marshal bike events most weekends for Bemsee, Thundersport GB ,NG, BSB and No limits. throughout the entire season - hate seeing them fall off but also feel very good about helping them - Really hate it when someone gets injured - Good luck to them all and safe riding - I know i always got too over enthusiastic in my younger years and think I would be as bad now hence why I will not go out on track days

The Boy said you probably have picked him up a couple of times then. He was racing under the Big Mac Racing Banner. One part of me wanted to do more. I would see him when an engine had let go and he would sit there all night trying to put it right or replace the engine then straight back on the track next day. Like most of the boys. And it is a serious game those Boys live for the bike's and competition and on track they compete to the end. Off track they joke laugh and help each other. I used to say to the boy why are you sitting there trying to repair a bike that will go out there later and try to beat you. He would say Dad you just do. But they are all great lads and a finer bunch you would not wish to meet. Yes also they do care for each other and when one of them get hurt it seems to affect them all. As for the Marshals they are a sterling bunch with loads of compassion and caring and you do see it in their faces when there's been an off. They worry and fret for the riders. I owe marshals for my tumble on the Isle Of Mann when I clipped a bollard they picked me up and the bike and made sure I was stable before I carried on they also made sure the bike was road worthy. And when the Police stepped in they said not to worry we got this one. But strangely the Police were just as helpful they made me tea and chatted till I stopped shaking. I was trying to be a racer when I should have been more sensible. But they stayed with me till the Boy noticed I was missing and came looking for me. They said don't worry your Dad is fine and will be with you soon go and get a cuppa with him.
    Keep Up The Good Work
    Joe.
