    Hello people

I spent a lot of time this week trying on a few lids. Shark Spartan Carbon, Arai Rebel, AGV K5s, Shoie GT-Air. Ended up going for Shoie GT-Air for best fit. I purchased it today through sportsbikeshop.co.uk and should be with me next week ;). This is the design I went for.....

Thank you everyone. The 10 - 15 mins I had the lid on was defo super comfortable and snug fit. I can't wait to go for a proper ride with this lid. Now I feel happier that you guys are saying good things about this lid.

It is a handsome looking lid dude, and like Privateer said it helps if you have a Shoei shaped head. I always hankered after an Arai but could never get a comfy fit, had a few Shoei’s and always liked them. Good choice.

I have a Shoei Neotech and it's definitely the most comfortable helmet I've owned, better than my Shark Evo.

I really wanted a bell helmet, mainly because of the safety rating, but tried their top £600 helmet and it felt horrible and course material inside. I also tried the Bullitt and I could move that about, leaving just the inner material stuck to my head securely, but the outer shell moved separate to it!
Since buying a new Thruxton R, I wanted something Retro. The main one I like is the Hedon Heroine Racer, but didn’t think it was quite worth the hefty £649 price tag! These are hand built, but they wanted an extra £100 just to fit different colour fixings from the Matt black to the gloss black.
The next one I’m going to check out, is the NEXX XG100R, relatively cheap at £269 I like the look of it, but as yet not checked he quality.

Safety ratings are important but any lid is only good if it fits correctly and stays on in an unfortunate drama.

Good luck with the lid hunting. So many to choose from ;)

    Tell me about it!
Went looking for one months ago and came away with nothing, got my new bike, so tried looking again over Christmas, thinking of the Hedon, but want it exactly how I’d like it for that high price and not paying extra, for no extra work to build it!

Had my GT-Air (SWMBO too) over 4 years now, wouldn't change it for anything else other than a colour change (still in Multistrada red). The visor's getting in need of replacement (or a good polish?) due to flare in bright sunlight (no rush there then :)), otherwise still as good as new.

I love Shoei's, I have a "long" shaped head, and they fit me perfectly. Tried countless Arai's on, but don't fit my head shape. The one I have now is about 13 years old, (i know, i know), but I only wear it when going out for a decent ride, and its kept in a dark, cool place, in a bag. I wear a KBC to commute every day, (weather permitting). I have an Ukawa rep, and I had a Scott Russell rep before that, which I think is one of the best helmet designs ever. shoei.jpg shoei 1.jpg

I have 2 lids so far....

Shoei XR1100......7 years old now. Hence the purchase of GT-AIR :D

Bell M6 Carbon.....Great lid for stability, fitment, comfort but fogs up in winter as their anti-fog coating doesn't work that great. And you have to flap about changing visors as they are bolted in. If you accidentally drop a bolt while changing then then you are buggered . So I only will use this lid in summer.

My new GT-AIR will be all season lid ;)

I am disappointed with my gt-air.
It's nice and comfy and a good fit but it fogs up far too easily when closed in cool weather.

Also the visor adjustment needs looking at. I like it to be open just a crack (which helps reduce fogging) but it is currently way too wide on the first setting. I've had any number of mozzies, flies and one bee take a peek in my helmet through the gap.

I guess the supplied pinlock would fix the fogging but I know I would be distracted by it when it is inserted.

So my view is it's comfy but the ventilation isn't that good, especially when compared to my much cheaper Caberg and LS2 lids.

    ^^^ Hello mate

Why do you feel that you might be distracted by the Pinlock Visor inserts? I guess you have tried it before and didn't like it?

My lid (GT-Air) is being delivered today :), so I am new to the visor adjustment on the GT-Air. However I had a similar issue to yours on my XR1100 visor and after fiddling with the visor base plate screws, it worked fine ;)

No, I've never fitted one but have never needed to either as the slightly opened visor always took care of any misting. I look at the thick rim around the edge of the pinlock and think it'll be shit ha ha. But I'll have a go at adjusting it and see how I get on.
I've just bought a nitro n2200 as a cheap replacement for my LS2. Only £47 for a 3 star Sharp rated helmet and straightaway it opens up just a crack to let the air circulate. If I can reposition the gt-air visor to do this, happy days
