Well after having my bike stolen in September I now have her back!

Got a phone call from plod in merseyside on Monday night saying it was pulled over and during the course of the investigations at the roadside they found the chassis number and the number plate didn’t match! So the scally scarpered leaving his helmet behind!!!

Picked it up yesterday before work and just this morning I’ve gone out to have a look at the damage and am amazed!

    The list of repairs are:

    New number plate
    New fuel cap lock
    New wing mirror glass.

Other than that there is not a scratch on it!!!!

They’ve done 1400 miles in 5 weeks though!!

And the wiring harness is intact, they’ve just directly wired into the plugs to make it work with a standard automotive switch!!

It doesn’t say he wasn’t arrested, just he ran off.
Good news about getting the bike back in good order.

You guys over there are the same whiners as we have here. Faulting the cops and looking for someone to blame. You got your bike back in one piece didn’t you.

Take it you are a retired cop then.
Over here they wouldn’t even chase the little scrots as they didn’t have a helmet on until recently.
Not sure at present if that’s all the forces that will even now.
As to bike crime there has been an epidemic of scooter boys using stolen scooters to either steal bikes, mobile phones etc.
This has been mostly London based but has even spreading from there for a while.
Cop numbers when our present prime minister was in the home office were cut by 30000 police officers.
Some of them were replaced with PCSO ( Police Community Support Officers ) who don’t have the powers of arrest that a police officer has.
They have to get a police officer if some on needs arresting.
    So yes we whine.
I phone once a few years ago about a theft of my motorbike to be told it was not a 999 matter.
I found my bike dumped and damaged within 10-20 minutes. Took the bike to my garage and put it in there.
It was a week later the cops turned up to take a statement. Bike hadn’t been picked up so I asked if they would like to see if there was any finger prints on it as it had been undercover and not touched at all.
What a stupid question that would have entailed SOCO to come to my house and do a bit of work.
So yes I think we are entitled to whine ( your word) about the lack of adequate policing in this country.
Perhaps before you sound off try to find out what it’s like here before criticising.

Just an add the figure for the numbers of cops cut was Just for England and Wales. Not for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
So who knows how many police were cut in the entire UK. The politicians are remarkably silent on that figure.

Well, yes I am, but that’s besides the point. Perhaps a little too judgemental. I didn’t realize police over there are looked on as plods and not proactive. That’s sad. When I worked the means streets of LA before moving over to Detectives in Homicide, I took pride in recovering citizens stolen property. Nowadays ( retired 15 yrs) there’s so much crime I wonder how a beat cop copes. But at least you gents don’t have a buffoon/ illiterate for a president/ PM.

LOL no we have a female PM that believes in allowing the likes of Trump/ Big corporations to not pay tax and sequester their money in off shore havens.
Not forgetting the recent paedophilia and sexual harresment by members of both houses of our parliament to be swept under the carpet.
Or the recent scandal of our MPs stealing from the public purse by fiddling their expenses. Again pretty much swept under the carpet.
This country is by no means perfect.
Our police and politicians could do with improving. More the politicians IMV.
As to police being proactive here Phil it’s nothing more than a buzz word imv.
We have in this country one of the most extensive CCTV/camera systems , such as ANPR, speed , jump a red light camera in Europe. Figures show we have the highest rate of cameras per person than anywhere else in Europe.
Yet you will hardly ever see a police officer stopping some one for a traffic violation as they are too busy being tasked to whatever stastic needs to be reduced to meet government set targets.
I am not anti police I feel that the officer on the beat is being used as a politic football so that some IQ0 in government can say we have decreased x y and z crimes without dealing with the real issues.
Another example of the stupidity of our government, a specialised division/dept which dealt with serious motorised crime was disbanded.
It had been very successful in breaking up gangs breaking /exporting cars/bikes etc for parts or exporting them to Dubai or wherever. Other types of motorised crime were dealt with this division, just not minor traffic offences of course.
They operated all over the country rather than just in their own force.
insurance companies ( not just talking about car/bike/van/lorry insurance) here pay the government to have a specialised dept to look into insurance related crime/fraud. Again serious crime but not even paid for out of the public purse.
Things such as the scooter boys I have mentioned has been getting steadily worse for some time because all they needed to do was remove their helmets to get the police to stop chasing them.
It’s just now that stingers ( think you call them stop sticks on your side of the pond ) have been authorised to be used against bikes ( or at least a trial into their use has ).
Frankly the way things are stacked up against the police it’s a miracle if they can actually get an arrest as the criminals here have more rights than any one else.
