Just wondered what people run on their Explorers?

Mine is a 2014 with Metzeler Tourances on.

On previous bikes have always run 36 back and 32 front. Checked the explorer and it had 45 back and 41 front......

Recommended for the Explorer is 36/42 one or two up as far as I know. That's what goes in at the service.

Hi Ozz, bit slow here but taking a pillion tomorrow and didn’t recall reading about increasing pressure anywhere. So decided to have a browse. Recommend in the manual for my 2017 XCA is 32/39. Lower than I’m used to. No recommendation to increase when 2-up? Is that normal?
    Cheers
    Chris

Its pretty normal now to have no pressure increase when carrying a pillion and seems to have become the norm across all manufacturers

Sounds like the new recommendation might take your view into account Andy. Don’t really want to drop much lower than 32/39 though.

My 2015 Explorer ran on 36 Front and 42 rear, however my 2018 MY Explorer runs 32 front and 39 rear.

Note the current model runs a larger profile tyre.

How are you getting on with your new Explorer is it a big improvement on the old one?

Yes, Great thanks, done about 700 miles in last couple of weeks and first service done. It’s a big improvement on the Gen 1 modle. The suspension is automatic adjusting and seems to iron out bumps and ripples in the road very well. The seats are more comfortable, electric screen is fun and has several new wings that has stopped the wind buffeting associated with the Gen 1. The brakes are way way better. The clutch is a lot lighter and the gear change less clunky. Lots of subtle changes as well like protecting the rear spring with a small mud guard, new dashboard.

My modle also has a Hill Start ( who would have thought ). I though that would just be a gimmick, but blow me, how did I manage without one, it’s a great feature.

Triumph have really listened to Gen 1 owners and wrapped up a large amount of improvements in the Gen 2. Well done Triumph.

So as you might guess, I’m very pleased with it.

I definitely agree about Hill Hold. I didn’t think I’d use it but I do, all the time! It’s really useful!

Same here, use it all the time, dead handy. Linked brakes and just using the front lever is very easy to get on with too.
