as you've probably seen in my previous posts i have ordered an ARROW 2 into 2 stainless steel exhaust system, due to the TOR'S rusting from the inside causing the chrome finish to blister.I see they have removable baffle's yet they are marked NOT FOR ROAD USE !!!!,when the MOT is due will it pass the mot test with the baffle's fitted.
Shouldn't be a problem, at worst you'll get an advisory. I have bc predators which are slightly fruitier than most, passed one test, failed the next, advisory on the last. People have said to put a bit of silver tape over the writing as testers aren't allowed to remove it.
Doesn't matter what the exhaust says, noise level is at the testers discretion, same with emissions. It shouldn't be a problem with the baffles in, go to where the local Harley lads go for the MOT. As long as it aint blowing smoke they cant fail it. Thats all gonna change soon but they cant backdate it...
I've had a look but can't find anything, can you tell me what the change will be? Maybe start a new thread. Cheers
As far as I know they haven't said exactly when it will be brought in but, sooner or later bikes will have the same sniffer/gas analyzer test that cars have where they sample your exhaust fumes and they have to be withing certain parameters. As it stands now it's just a visible check for pollutants. They don't have a noise test on cars or bikes, they just have to pass the Euro 4 noise emission test to be sold new. Noise like I said is up to the MOT tester, as long as it's not obnoxious they dont usual have a problem.... As per one or two other things this can be a contentious issue on the internet. I have had Harley's for 30 years and never had a fail for loud exhausts, most HD's are to loud and would fail a decibel test so my advise is to go to an MOT station that is OK with Harley loud and they cant really pull you up...
