    Hey guys!

Has anyone here tried touring on a Thruxton (R)? I'm talking roadtrips of at least 2-3 days. I know it's not the main purpose of the bike but if I'm going to get one I'd like to get away for the weekend occasionally. Just me and my bike. I was wondering if the seating position and the pression on the wrists are ok when riding for a longer time. Is there something else I should know about touring with a Thruxton? All info and stories are much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Toured on mine in June. France Belgium Germany 1800 miles in 5 days. Was worried about comfort but it was very much ok. Fitted Triumph panniers (would not really recommend) & magnetic oxford expandable tank bag. Kept original seat. Plenty of room for kit. Bought a couple of cramp busters for grips (scotliler) they were brilliant( a must). Tom Tom Sat Nav fitted with Bluetooth headset (Scala). Economy averaged 65 mpg - range approx 150 miles. Absolute top speed on autobahn 130 mph. Arms & neck struggling at that speed! I have to say I was very impressed with the 'R'. Totally exceeded my expectations

Cramp busters a must if covering long distances. See pics

Why don't you recommend Triumph Panniers? Bad experiences?

Yes, bought leather/waxed panniers from Triumph. £460. Damaged by rain, left outside house for 2 hours in rain (didn't even ride in the rain) they are not even shower proof. Had them renewed under warranty, now have approved waterproof covers. They do look lovely undressed but in this country & lets face it most of Europe you would end up covering them anyway.
