But we made it back safely and now know I can get him and all our gear to Stormin the Castle so looking forward to that in two weeks time :p

So.....been away for about a week...left blighty heading for France, Belgium, then Luxembourg,Germany & finally Switzerland to do the 5 passes around the Swiss alps. (Grimsel,Susten,St Gotthard, Furka & Nufenen......They were absolutely bloody fantastic, crammed full of motorcycles as you would expect of all makes from V-max to BMW`s (the choice bike out here). Here the police do have motorcycles but they are crafty...They don`t seem to chase anyone, instead they have observers on the higher bits of the pass taking your last few digits of your number plate then once at the bottom of the pass they just stop all bikers going through & check your plate. in fairness they are reasonably forgiving & don`t hassle you unless you are riding like a tw*t which is fair comment really.
My little Tiger did well considering she done just over 1750 mile in 7 days but suffered a puncture just inside the Swiss border. A emergency plug (Rema Tip top) was put in that said 60kph for a maximum of 400 Kilometers, but as it was a late Saturday afternoon & most places were shut Sunday & Monday on we went, in fact I did well over the 60 kph they said at times :worried: & exceeded the mileage by some 650 miles!!!! Nothing was going to stop me & my mate doing the passes as that was our objective, so up & down the passes we went all day with the plug in, luckily it was on the back & we did stop to check her over every time we stopped too. As we left Switzerland heading into France we found a Triumph dealer in Switzerland & only 30 miles out of our way. The website said it was open...Google maps said it was open & once we arrived even the bloody notice on the door said it was open, but it was poxy shut!!! Thanks triumph Switzerland, I owe you one. In hindsight I am glad now that it was as Switzerland is a very, very expensive place to buy anything. for instance a can of Redbull is £6!!!! & a slightly customised T100 in the shop window was 18,600 francs & a pound sterling equals 1 franc, so it would have cost me a small fortune to have had a new tyre put on her anyway.
Fond memories of some fantastic, smooth, fast riding roads

it's a shooting lodge, but you can hire it out for weddings etc..not sure how they would feel about a bunch of bikers taking it over though:eek:

It's not ideal but it is jolly practical. Will possibly get the smaller 40 litre one at some point or swap the mounting plate and go for a 37ish litre Monokey instead.

With wet weather preventing me from riding recently I have been tinkering in the workshop. Latest project a 'points' cover, which does nowt to the machine except make it different and mine! It also finds a use for of a bit of 2024 1/4 inch plate I have held onto since doing my apprenticeship; - which I completed in 1966!

Also had some Roadriders put on today ready for my NC500 trip. The Phantoms fitted as standard aren't currently available, so Avons it is.
