    Evening gents

    My 1600 has had a chirping noise (sounds like a grasshopper) since I bought it last month. The guy I bought it off changed the rear tyre not long before he sold it so I'm assuming the rear wheel alignment needs sorted out. I'm looking for any recommendations for a suitable motorcycle jack or rear paddock stand so I can raise the back end and have a look ?

    cheers

    Billy

    Yep Billy sounds like slightly misaligned belt some folk have it even after trying to correct it, !!! to stop it use candle wax along the belt edge's re-apply when it comes back.
    Some folk use a standard two rail bike lift and place under the sump with plywood to protect, (not reccomended but used by many)

    thanks Tez........I had a look at that thread previously and it seemed there is a bit of debate about lifting the bike on the sump. I might try a rear paddock stand which will do for what I need.
    I'll try the candle wax on the belt...........cheap fix !

    cheers

    Yep info picked up while trawling web , give the edges of the belt a rub with a candle, takes away the annoying noise (for a while but easy to re-do )

    Tried the candle wax and hey presto - no belt squeak !! Makes a bit of a mess so you'll need a old paintbrush or something to brush away flakes of candle wax.

    Good job Zoso, dont worry to much about the candle wax shavings wont hurt your bike and will blow away when you open that throttle to the sweet sound of no chirping lol
    Ride safe :cool::cool::cool:
