Hello Everyone glad to be a part of this forum. I've been coming here to the forum on and off for the past few years learning all I can on the Bonneville and other Triumph products. I was hanging on and waiting to see the new 2018 Harley Davidson line up. The new changes are wonderful! But, for someone who is approaching 60 (next June) the Bonneville fits the bill (weight wise). The Heritage softail would be my bike of choice if I were to be choosing a Harley. They are awesome to ride and very comfortable. But they are heavy. My siblings and nephews all ride Harley's! I guess I'll be the odd man out. This Christmas Santa will be riding a Bonneville under the Christmas tree.
I've found new Harley's to need fixing From new just to make them handle at a massive cost where triumphs are ready to ride and only need mild tinkering later in ownership, they both hold their values better than any other bike here in the uk.
Good choice. The thing that has always put me off HD is their weight across the line up. The T120 is no gym bunny but still 50lbs lighter than a Sportster. As I get more obese I need my bikes to get slimmer!
Well coming from a heavy weight bike the Triumph Trophy, the T120 feels like a little 125. Seriously it feels so tiny and nimble in comparison. I'm picking up my new T120 in a couple of weeks. You've made a good choice.
By the way when I first moved to Kansas City...my first job was a salesperson at a Harley Davidson dealership. They are great bikes! I had the opportunity to ride them all. As I get older and the Bonneville is perfect and they are so much easier to move around. .
Welcome from Germany! I fully understand your dilemma... But you picked a great bike. I own an Iron 883 (and ride it virtually unchanged) and a Bonnie T120. I really love them both and I wouldn't know, which one to sell, if I had to. Just spent 3 days touring through Germany on the Harley with a waterproof 7kg backpack as my only luggage. Great fun. But today I took the Bonnie out for a 100 klicks and thought: it's like a Suisse watch-movement. Everything works not with chunks and clunks, but with clicks and ticks... And I love it both ways Since you are familiar with HD, you will love the differences in the Bonnie! Cheers, Daniel
I had the choice, and I've also got a 1992 Sportster XL, and I chose the Bonneville. In a lot of ways it's like the older Sportster but without (most of) the vibration...
I already have a t120. No its not a Harley and no where near. I just don't like it. Its lazy and sounds numb. Great for motorways but useless in town up and down the gears all the time where as my t100 is fabulous. But this is just my opinion. I am actually thinking about selling my t120 and going back to a wide glide which I loved or a late Norton. The bike are not build in the UK any more and it tells. But again just my opinion for what its worth. Good Luck and ride safe Joe.
Love my old Night Train twin cam but really do like the Tiger 800 and the new Scrambler. Have a 1200 Bandit for knocking about on and would really would like to up grade that. Tested both the Tiger and the Scrambler but means getting a loan which i find a bit frightening. Who knows maybe like you Santa may bring me a toy. ps, I'm 61 next month so if not now, when.!!
Tim Its only money and if you can have one minute of happiness then go for it. To much sadness about these days. My other half likes to save but if I want something then I just go and get it. My Dad was 58 never had a holiday never went of work. He loved his motorbikes but he got ill and passed away suddenly. I loved him to bits but just think he missed every thing. Regards Joe.

As they say...different strokes for different folks. I appreciate you're honesty. As a kid Triumphs and Honda's were the bike to own. The HD were not very reliable back in the 70's and early 80's.
I've had several Harleys over the years and I sold my 1200 Sportster before purchasing the T120. I do quite like my T120 which over all is a better machine than my Sportster. However, somehow it feels a little bland imho. The T120 feels like a washing machine set at spin....
That guy is spot on ,the new bikes aren't a disappointment but the idea of the "big reveal" was. Getting famous millionaires to reveal them then giving them the bike,while the only 2 normal Harley fans that got to do a reveal got as he says diddly squat, was a big mistake. i didn't realize they have now discontinued the "affordable" Dyna models can't see the logic in that
