No idea on the price yet as i always get a good deal from the boy's at Crescents and i take my wheels in and do them Not tried them in the wet yet as i only did a short 100 mile ride on Sunday and was home before the rain, the Supercorsa's were not that bad so i would think the new tyres with the extra sipes will be much better. I went for the 3's because they share the same tall profile as the Supercorsa.
I absolutely love the Rosso 3's! Mind you that I've only done about 400 miles on them but I agree with darkman, they feel just like the Supercorsas. I honestly can't tell the difference. Now I'm just wondering how long these will last.
Michelin Road Pilot 3 Or Metzler Roadtec 01 ????? I need a new pair after a big puncture in my rear Pros and cons of either?, the Metzlers are more expensive, Michelin are the 'better' name but I have used Metzler Z8 s for a long time and wouldn mind trying the 01s Anyone with persuasive experience of either?
I looked a bit more and as I needed to order some pronto I have gone for Micheline Road pilot 4 EvilBay prices 190/55-17 and 120/70-17 pair Michelin Road Pilot 3 - £230 Michelin Road Pilot 4 - £244 Metxeler Roadtec 01 - £288 So I got to my bike after work yesterday to find the rear wheel flat, I felt smug as I always carry my puncture repair kit with me and thought I would have it repaired in a jiffy. I used a canister of CO2 to get some air in the tyre and found the puncture, a quick bit of spit over a particularly large stone and found the bubbles. Dug the stone out with the pick tool and then used the drill thingy to clean the hole, I only ran it through once as the hole was quite large, the stone had gone through and put a tear through the inner plys. The first mushroom plug popped right out when I pulled on it but I got the second to stay, I used another four canisters of CO2 to inflate the tyre, but only got it to 15psi, it should be 42psi. but it was enough to creep home. Yesterday evening I used an electric pump at home to get the tyre to 42psi, but this morning it was down to 15psi, there was air leaking from the repair. No doubt about it a new paid of tyres is in order and have gone for the Micheline Road Pilot 4, delivery tomorrow at some point, so will have them fitted Thu morning, I take the loose wheels to my local fitter who charges £10 each and i balance them myself. The stone was quite large and pointed, it could almost have been a stone arrow head! goodness knows when or where I picked it up. I always carry this with me for puncture repairs Plug n Go £30 Amazon and these CO2 air canisters for a quick inflate - I carry 10 about £17 on Amazon
I've got the Roadtecs fitted but only done about 40 miles on them. That'll change at the end of the month when we toddle off to the South of France for a couple of weeks.
Does it really matter, does anyone on here really think that they can ride their bike to within a gnats dick of the capability of any tyre from any manufaturer.
Hi TC it wasn't your group I bumped into going south through the Creuse at Genouillac today, was it? A group of about 8 bikes, some of them Triumphs.
Hi n welcome, for me its not all about finding the limit of a road tyre but the feel and confidence a tyre gives me as a rider, tyre technology has changed vastly over the years i have been riding to the point you now even have a choice of profile as well as compounds, for me today's choice of tyres are a very easy and cheep way to improve the handling and feel of a bike
Nope not us. We were down near Montpellier until Monday, but now sat watching the rain in the Dordogne..... Time to hit the bar I think....
I must be driving like an angel! I got 6,000 on the factory fitted Supercorsas and still had tread left in them before swapping them out with Michelin Road Pilot 4s due to a large puncture in my rear. My local Triumph says it is unusual for them to last past 4,000 miles
I'm going to keep an eye on this thread. I've put 1500 miles on my new Speed and I can already feel the rear tyre squaring off with normal road use (including running-in). Supercorsas are great but longevity is compromised for grip. I'm looking for something with more of a sport/road bias. Thanks for all the feedback so far. Gled
