New posts tab, what does it actually do?

Sod all as far as I can tell.

If I click it, it still shows new posts as yesterday. Newest is around 8 hours old.

And yet if I click Forum, its plain to see there are many posts since the last of the "new post"

I always click the "whats new" tab & that shows everything thats new since my last visit

 

Just tried that, last post. 10.31 last night.
