Count me out Doug, I would love to go, only its 4 days and too soon after my holidays to take more, and I have to get back to normal for a while
I do agree in principle, but it's not like we saw much on the rides out of Bellingham unless you call thick rain scenery
Was your visor steamed up on Sunday Rich it didn't rain until we left Hartside cafe which was after 1500 hours
I Think we would all like to go back at some point and see the place under a blue sky. I think the same would apply to the previous meet up in the Peak District as we weren't exactly blessed with good weather there either. I do however like the idea of trying somewhere new first. Suggestions have been the south of England (probably Dorset to avoid the Surrey and Hampshire traffic) Wales and Shropshire. A possible second GMU was also mooted to take place on foreign soil (I don't mean Scotland ). Could be Northern France.
Bleedin Eck ..... Youre a brave man risking the roads of Cavan and the suicide drivers we have. I hope you've had someone explain the "NOT SO" niceties of riding a bike in the Republic ................
Don't see any reason we can't have 2 GMU's one UK and one "over the water" Some people won't go to both due to costs and time off work(for those of us that have to go) the Alps might be a bit to far. As said there was some discussion over dinner. Brittany or Normandy might be possible though.
Central England around Rutland and Northants has some nice roads, scenery and (say it softly) history. Not sure about mass accommodation though. YHA have a number of properties that sleep around 40 people (thinking there be nearer 40 next year and won't want to share a 60-120 bed hostel) with camping too. E.g. Brecon Becons (see below), sleeps 44, no hostel bookings as yet for weekend of 20/21/22 July 2018. 1 pod also available and 10 camping pitches. Can also pay a small sole use supplement. Half board available, plus bar. They will hold any property for three weeks before requiring 25% deposit. https://groups.yha.org.uk/hostel/yha-blaxhall You can count me in right now, wherever, whenever.
You Retired Gentlemen, whomer are constantly boasting of having nothing too do, can you see where Im going with this.
We're not boasting of having nothing to do Sprinter. What it is we've burnt ourselves out working harder than a hard thing so deserve a rest
If I'm having a GMU I'll be having it in Ullapool The roads are brilliant up there Stunning scenery Lovely people Fine ales Best whiskeys Nice food What more could you want
