Just purchased my first Triumph (ST 1050). Loving it. It's now in getting a service. So looking forward to plenty of fun miles. Also thinking of getting a Speed Triple....... Any thoughts?

Hi Dean, welcome to the forum. The SIII, although having basically the same engine, is much more tractable, fun bike to ride. With winter coming on it may be best to stick to the softer ST set-up until the New Year. However, I just happen to know where there's a really lovely green SIII for sale if I could just get off my arse and post some pics...

Hope you enjoy it, pal. Don't let the banter put you off - it's a good place for some good advice and (more importantly, in my opinion) a bit of a laugh. :upyeah:

Hi Dean and welcome to the forum and congratulations on buying your ST1050. Hope you enjoy using the site, there are quite a few new members joining now and I hope it will be the main site that UK Triumph owners will use.
If you are thinking of buying a Speed Triple as well, I can highly recommend them, had my 2012 ABS for over a year now and still love it. Shares the same engine as the ST but firmer sportier ride and in my opinion more of a fun bike than tourer, but I do still tour on my bike.

Hi Dean and welcome to the forum...nice bike I own a Speed and for my 2 pence worth can't see why you'd want to buy another bike that's basically the same as your current!!
All I can say is you must love it......... Personally I'd go for something different, but that's just me... And that is what these forums are about...
Open speech, open thoughts and plenty of differing advice.

    Hi Scewball,
I kinda agree with ya. I wanted to use the ST for touring and have a 675 for just my little toy. Plus I want something that I can use and something that I can pamper and just put dry miles on it. Does that sound stupid?

Dean when you say 675 do you mean Daytona or street... Both brilliant bikes and I would argue the street R is in fact a better bike than the speed... I owned a standard Street and loved it.... One of the best all round bikes I've ever owned... And I've had a few

Street triple. I think I would like an R, but I want the under seat exhausts and round headlamps, not the new version.Never had a naked bike before, so trying to find a perfect condition bike. Not heard a bad word about them yet.
