As per the title, I'm looking to fit a single seat and one of those racks that goes in place of the pillion seat and follows the curve of the rear fender "did you see what I did there? talking like a leatherman already" Fender indeed!

The earlier bikes had 2 piece seat, later ones have single, what I want to know is are the holes and fittings the same?
    Cheers chaps

Suits you sir, ohh, suits you.
That looks great. Many thanks for the info, I shall go forth and procure a single seat with my new found knowledge.

Actually, have you got a close up of the fastener at the back of the single seat? its a pull cord release thing on the dual seat, I imagine there needs to be a change here for security

    Done!

There is the threaded bolt hole in the rear fender that secures the riders seat. The two smaller holes either side are unused on my bike?....

    View attachment 2168

Notice the 12mm securing bolt has a slot around the collar....

    View attachment 2169

The slot is for locating the front of the pillion seat which also secures to the fender at the rear of the pillion seat with a single 8mm bolt fixing....

    View attachment 2170

If you have no intention of running the pillion seat you can simply replace the slotted bolt with a normal headed chrome bolt.

    Hope this helps!

Helps me a great deal chap.
You are to be commended for your positive approach to assisting your fellow humans.
Much obliged to you sir. now all I gotta do is source a single seat and get it covered in blue and white leather.

    Cheers

    You are welcome kind sir.
I had my seats & backrest re-trimmed at a company called top gaiters on ebay.

I find that slightly offensive! I'm not homosexual, don't tend to wear leathers, too old to understand Power Rangers but, to be fair, I do ride a Speed Triple...

I'm in what sounds like the same position here, beloved Mrs E has dropped the bombshell that she might like to try pillion, cue much time on EBay collecting touring seat etc (footrest hangers are obscenely expensive as are the footpegs so cheap universals fabricated to fir in case she changes her mind... but fitting the seat looks interesting....near as I can tell it's either an upside down bolt or a domed peg? Any advise anyone?
