Help, I am looking to change the OEM cans to a single scorpion can and I am after some advice from any one who has done this, how do you find it. Did you require a remap etc.., has it altered the amount of fuel used. I know simple questions but I made the mistake of the full arrow lowboy on my street and whilst it sounded great and a remap was needed it drank the fuel. I better fuel economy from the speed than I ever got from the street. Thanks Chris
Hi Chris, I emailed Scorpion before i bought mine and they told me their cans are designed to work with the standard map - fuel economy didn't change much / if at all? It sounded better than the standard cans, I ran mine with the baffle in as the police in my area are shit hot on loud pipes - even though I sometimes ride with a mate who's a special ( so not a proper copper!) who has blue flame cans on his TL1000r and boy they are loud but he's never to my knowledge been pulled for them :upyeah:
Yeah as Mr H says, bike runs just the same with scorpion fitted. I did run mine with baffle out, but because I don't use earplugs it gave me a headache on long runs. So baffle is back in, haven't noticed any difference in fuel consumption.
fitted mine today, looks great but I have a small blow from were it joins the main pipe, how tight did you do up the clamp, I worried I might snap it. Also tried it with the baffle out and the bike ran lumpy and stalled. Wonder what map I have loaded. Also do you find its close to the wheel ?. As always thanks for any advice offered.
Mine didn't leak-just did it up to my normal gorilla arm torque setting! , I had the standard map - have you had it changed? if not it should be the standard one, as for close to the wheel - get a pic up :upyeah: then we can check out your chicken strips - unless you've got one of the big boys to scrub them off! View attachment 1925
Thanks for the picture, mine is about the same distance. My chicken strips will put all to shame, I have new tyres so I have massive strips  Will have a play with the clamp tomorrow as my can was used I just fitted it were it looked like it had been before. Might need to move it close to the end of the pipe and I might take it off and give the header pipe a good clean and rub down so its smooth and I get a clean fit. Thanks again
update-Fitted mt Scorpion Serket last weekend easy job if you have the right tools ( hello again Halfords) one tip as otehrs have said you really do need to torque the collar bolt really tight or it will blow ( Aldi this Thursday wrench £15.00 I'm getting one) ! ran fine on existing map no fueling issues throughout rev range, might be me but bike feels more nibble losing that weight too. I also took it to local Dealer who had offered to map new can in for £20.00 so i thought what the hell, they installed it for nought, nice guys and still runs fine. Tried with baffle in first, nice sound if a little 'subdued'. so took it out and oh my God, dogs barked and time stood still, very loud in fact may be a little too anti-social, will keep eye on neighbours! one issue for those who might be out to max mpg, before install could average 43mpg no problem, afterwards can only seem to coax to 38mpg ( on wet roads taking it easy and quick up shifts0 so be warned if that is not for you
Scouser that's the remap.. They put the lowboy map on it and it's set to run rich.. Low boy exhaust is a full system & has new headers as well. Your better off with the standard map.. When I did mine my local dealer did the same. I had my bike set up on rolling road and it was 5bhp down with low boy map compared to standard map.. Fueling was too rich across the rev range. Altered and had a custom map which your welcome to use if you want and bike feels great...
Ah so that's it does your pop amd crack like mad too ( which i love don't understand why some want to eliminate it!) would like to instal your map but as Im IT thick how?
Mine pops and farts as well... You need to visit TuneECU_Start Read up, download the program and buy a lead... It's pretty simple and the instructions are all there.. Once you have it I can copy my map and send it over.. I have a GPR exhaust so not exactly the same but it won't be far off.
Hi Screwball How do you find the gpr exhaust and do you have a decent PIC, looking on their website they don't offer much in the way of advise. Thanks
M4 plenty of pics of my bike on here and also on CC's website. Really happy witty exhaust but I had to cut down and redrill bracket. Took 10 minutes...
