I seem to spend a lot of my time these days in either a state of anger or bemusement. Out walking the dog this morning and saw a number of scooter riders. None were wearing gloves or anything resembling a decent jacket, all were wearing shorts and one had his helmet strap unfastened. Are they all invulnerable or do you think are are we looking at auditions for the Darwin Awards?
It always amazes me - when I see one I know or just end up speaking to (petrol stations etc) I ask if they they need their hands for work? and normally get a blank look - then I ask how the fcuk they will text or update facebook or twitter without skin on their fingers & eyes open wide and they seem to understand my question - beggars belief Yeah I know I'm getting old? Not as old as B though x :upyeah:
not only the apperal ,its the way they ride,up the inside of traffic at flat out speed its a wonder there is not more accidents
Is that not normal then? I have been riding like that for years, its called making progress.... Just saying
Generally 30mph but potentially 35-40mph if on a downward section of tarmac  I would just like to add that i am actually a fast rider, unfortunately, my bike however..... isnt!
I agree but only when safe even you pig have to agree sometime in the middle of own with little or no experiance can be a bit dodgy ,we hae one lad recently who clipped a bus hit a car no helmet strap on and trainer on he ended up in hospital with a head injury and lost his foot as to badly damaged to save
That is tragic. The more so because it was so easily avoidable simply through education as to the correct choice of ppe. :frown:
agreed my Mother in law was on the bus she said it was not a good site to see ,and the blokes 2 hr old BMW wasn't very happy either LOL
Personally i have no sympathy for the little cunts, lost his foot? Who cares, pity he didnt lose his fucking head! Admittedly i dont wear full biking gear on my cruiser like i did on my sportsbikes, my choice & my loss should all go Pete Tong. However i would like to think i have been riding long enough to access potential dangerous situations & make the right decision regarding my movements on a motorcycle although admittedly you dont know whats going through the minds of the drivers & riders around us. But these little scrotes that tear around on their mopeds, using footpaths & riding in trainers, tracksuit bottoms & a hoody are at the start of their biking life with little or no road experience but still choose to add to their own vulnerability. Unfortuantely until its made compulsory that a certain level of PPE must be worn by law then the time of the NHS staff at our local A&E departments will be taken up piecing these fucking retarded cunts back together again. Just my opinion, if you disagree thats fine, take a look out the window & you will see that flying fuck that i couldnt give!
Although I completely understand the sentiment I'm not sure that I agree that we can simply shrug off our responsibility because we know better, do you know that there are people that are still open cast mining asbestos? The 'I'm all right so fuck you' thing is, I feel, a bit irresponsible. My personal opinion is that people with knowledge should be imparting said knowledge to those that don't have access to it. Specifically, when your average Joe goes to pick up his scooter and sees his mates having a good time fucking about, what measures are in place to stop him doing the same? I started biking with no such help, but the roads were very much less trafficked than they are now and a different culture was in place at the time. As I said, I understand the sentiment and mostly want to punch the little scrotes in the neck, but shouldn't we, as experienced bikers be helping them rather than condemning them to their fate? Just askin'...
Bry when did a scrot last take notice of anything said by someone 20 years his elder? You can talk till your blue in the face but you have 2 hopes.....
But surely all these scrotes must have done a CBT to be able to ride their scooters on the public highway. The wearing of suitable PPE etc is discussed as part of the CBT so they have had basic instruction. Perhaps the best way for them to learn is to witness the injury or fatality of one of their friends due to neglect of common sense? A young kid at our local shops a few years ago during the summer was on his scooter in jogging bottoms, canvas pumps, unzipped hooded top & his battered crash helmet with the strap undone when i pulled up on my Fireblade, all leathered up. I said to him that i thought he should be wearing suitable attire when riding, to which i was abruptly told to "fuck off & mind my own business you old cunt, its summer & i cant be arsed to wear all that shit that you wankers wear". Hence my feelings towards these little scrotes..... Fuck them! Make it law that PPE of a certain standard must be warn regardless of age or cc of motorcycle. Failure to do so will result in a fine or penalty points.
One this little scrote that you spoke to most probally didn't have a licence and 2 the scooter was most probally stolen. These little drop kicks are not bike riders they usually end up driving a corsa with a exhaust that is the size of a drainpipe. I do agree that there should be a set standard with regards to PPE, at least gloves jacket and shoes anyway, actually I'm surprised that Brussels has not brought something out like this yet, Must be too busy trying to sort Greece, Spain, Italy and the like out at the moment
You feelin ok B? A sensible answer - I have read and commented on this thread and must say all opinions fit depending on what frame of mind one is in... I can relate and agree to all comments as i have been a cyclist, a learner on my first moped, a learner in a car, a fully licensed motorcycle rider, a fully licensed car driver = plenty of experience of roads, conditions, knobhead car, truck, van drivers and then the little tossers on the twist n go's. Not all are bad but boy could some do with some 'training and manners' on the road. I think my next career choice should be a'Traffic Cop'
