I've never had a problem with this site, until this bloody change, tonight I get an email from rob telling of new look forum sorry you've had problems logging on. but hopefully they will all will be sorted now, well that was the jist of it, I've not had a problem logging in ? New forum I chose not to use, And most of all I'm faced with not being able to access the forum just a message bottom left of screen WAITING FOR -the triumph forum WHAT'S GAN ON !!
They have mate, hence in 3 weeks time I have to be sliced open and then spend 11 days off work unpaid
If you go to the bottom of any page there is a little box on the left you can tick to have the old forum back.
I like the new look. You're just a bunch of grumbling old farts! And that's coming from a grumbling old fart.
There seems to be an epidemic of repeat, I repeat double or even treble posts since the change. Sticky fingers or new changes ?
We've probably all received an email from Rob, the site admin, stating that to get rid of the adverts we have to subscribe. I've noticed that since then, there's MORE adverts and the a actual area of forum text has narrowed to allow for bigger adverts.... not good! I know these admin guys often run several sits and just want to make money from subscriptions and click revenue / traffic and have no real interest in the actual content of the sites they run..... again, not good for us forum members.
That's not true at all. I've owned 2 Triumphs from brand new (2008 Street Triple and a 2014 Street Triple R). Both purchased from Carl Rosner Triumph. Also I don't recall emailing stating to subscribe. I posted here giving the option to subscribe. Again no obligation at all. And yes, adverts do help the running cost - the server that this site runs on is over £100 a month (my other site is also on it) the software £140, not to mention development time! I do take your feedback on Ads though, that's why for a fiver a year you can remove everything. Cheers Rob.
Agree totally with Scoot, "can't like it" easily even on old software, very bad looking forum now with really intrusive rubbish. Pay heh heh heh. how many members x £5 (this year thin end of wedge stuff) Nope. Don't like bright red self congratulatory "elite member etc" and as for phones, adult comfort dummies. Member info again too in yer face, I'm only interested in motorcycles. Change to newer software with intrusive ads so they will pay to be on forum..yeah right. As said somewhere, if yer don't object, yer accept, well not me. Minority or not. Gone. Oh Mr O hope all this does not affect all yer hard work with the get together. Just survived last change, but gone now, cheerio to old pals, and most importantly, rubber side down..ride yer bikes.
That's a fair enough response, Rob. Regarding the email I mentioned, I thought it was the recent email you sent, but it must've been a recent post on the site. I stand corrected. Regarding admins not always having a real interest in the sits they run, obviously from what you've said, that's not the case with you. Regarding the new look site, I still think it's far to cluttered or 'fancy' now. All that is needed it a basic forum site like at The Motorbike Forum...... A simple looking forum that does what it says and nothing more. After all, that's all we want, a forum to keep in touch / assist / network with fellow Triumph riders locally and nationally.
Good bye. @Rob, can we have a cross or thumbs down? There are times when I would like to voice my disagreement too. And yes there does seem to be a bug where the post doesn't look as if it's gone (with timer top left continually running), so I press post button again and end up with duplicate posts (I've gone back in and deleted one of them when this has happened). Keep up the good work, you can't please all the people all the time.
Thanks @Scoot65, appreciate your comments. I think that design is quite subjective. I don't actually like The Motorbike Forum design, it looks about 10 years out of date to me. With social media taking over it's important, in my opinion, for Forums to innovate. This update here has allowed for much easier photo uploading, more engaging ways of interacting with Post Likes etc (again, subjective), a 'fresher' design, much better mobile navigation etc etc. There's hundreds of behind the scenes updates too that really help. It's important that we keep up. Forums are a great separation from social media, They are still quite private, in that not all of your friends / acquaintances can see what you are doing; forums offer some degree of anonymity. Thanks, Rob.
Feck me. Just been suckered in as click bait. Saw the Premium link, followed it all the way to handing over £5 hard earned via Paypal to that capitalist fat cat Rob. Hopefully he'll remember it was us poor old forum mugs paid for his luxury yacht when he's swanning it in the Seychelles sucking on his fat Cuban (pun not intended).
