Can any of you kind folks tell me what size is the front sprocket nut on a 865 T100 Bonneville ? I need to borrow a socket and need to know the size !! Rich
Yup 36 mm for the front sprocket nut. It might be a good idea to have a new lock washer in stock, just in case you can't re-use the old one. Just for your info, When I had my T100 EFi I changed the front sprocket from the std 18 tooth jobby to a 19 toother and this reduced cruising revs by about 300rpm.
Thanks guys that's great, I have thought about a different tooth size but my speedo is already over reading I don't want to throw it to far out !!
The 19 tooth sprocket is supposed to make the speedo accurate. Also I found that whilst the 19 tooth one reduced the revs by at least 300 rpm on my 790cc T100 it made little difference on my 865 SE
Does this improve or slow acceleration for overtaking My speedmaster is a bit of a slug in this department I know it's not a sports bike but I would like to improve it Cheers
I tended to possibly use a lower gear if I was in a hurry, but it does tend to be slower, to me it made it more manageable in traffic, on the o.e it seemed either too lower gear or too high next one up especially with a pillion passenger. Standing starts are slightly slower unless you slip the clutch slightly, not much, but the torque soon see's you through, thats the slight trade off of having a more relaxed touring rev range which I prefered.
Hi big D, if you want to give your Speedmaster a bit more go there are lots of options but you might care to contact aussie member Capt who has an America (same mechanicals as yours) which has been modified alot !!
Big D ? I'll have you know I've been on a diet! Ripped I am ! Anyway I thought this might be a cheap way to improve overtaking acceleration Like H O (cheers) it feels like too high or too low which can lead to hesitation and I sometimes have to nip back in and miss the opportunity It's no biggie Maybe I should get that rocket 3 eh?
