Anyone got any ideas for a paddock stand for my new 17 speed? Fellow member has suggested this con stand from Germany?,usually use Harris but at £200 thought I'd try another make, cheers
I use this... pricey but well made and lifts front and rear off the ground together http://www.1jac.com/motorbike-jacks-lifts
Originally had the abba for my BMW but my garage floor is the old concrete style n it's not the smoothest,so used to feel a little unstable, paddock works a lot better, thanks for replying
I bought one of these recently, cheap but it works really well and feels stable and solid, worth the money if you are after a cheaper stand. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141445048492?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
I bought one of these a few years ago when I had a 250 for commuting, it made lubing the chain a doddle and was also good for cleaning the back wheel. still got it and will hang on to it.
Only worry was that the speed maybe too heavy n the rollers don't spin?,have you used on your current bike?
I haven't tried the rollers with my Tiger Sport, but I will give it a go tomorrow evening and let you know. the 250 was a doddle and really easy to spin the wheel, but as you say, with a heavier bike it may not be so easy. I will give it a try.
I use the con stand, only thing is I had to remove one of the wheels as the stand wouldn't fit round the wheel even though it's the correct stand for my bike. Good stand tough. Have a look at my pics and you should see what I mean.
This is like the one I bought, nice and solid, but as mentioned above, I only used it on a 250 trail bike, will try it on the Tiger tomorrow and see how easy it is on a heavier bike. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycl...and-TRMT001-/131257329671?hash=item1e8f8be807
I bought a constand direct from www.Motea.com, they had an offer. I have used it with the 2017 Speed Triple and 2015 Tiger Sport and works well. The bike is easy on and off the stand with good leverage, and the wheel spins round easily. Didn't have to modify it at all. The instructions say to remove the paint from inside the tube to push the bearing in during assembly, which I did, but feel that it may be worth trying without clearing the paint as the clearance was a very easy fit. There is a slight wobble if you push sideways, but nothing enough to worry about. Have used with with a front stand with fork leg cups to lift the whole bike up.
The roller looks like a good idea. On the ad it says up to a limit of 200kg, I believe the dry weight of my 2016 Speed R is around 192kg, so should be ok.....
Yeah but the roller won't be taking the full weight of your bike, unless your going to use it to practice wheelies on!
I can't help but see the roller as an accident waiting to happen. I'd much prefer to wash my bike or lube/adjust the chain with the bike upright and not leaning over on a roller with the side stand on a puck.
Thanks for that Wes I'll have look at my stand in case I've missed something. As you say I can't fault the stand Ali
This is the one I bought £64.15 http://www.motea.com/en/paddock-sta...ngle-swing-arm-adaptor-incl-i4011-33786-0.htm
I've got one of these works a teat! http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/tools-workshop/big-bargain-deals/warrior-single-sided-paddock-stand
