I think a lot depends on your height. I rode my T100 with and without and there was a definite difference. Motorways are good up to 80 on the T120 which is enough for me. The screen takes the pressure off off my chest. However I'm used to having my helmet in the wind - ooer missus! If you've come from a full fairing you might not think it's doing anything However I'm 5'6 and I've seen posts from taller riders saying they got no improvement. Stuart nk
Thanks Stuart! I am pretty sure now, that there would also be a noticeable difference for me. Still pondering, if the investment makes sense since I prefer riding 2nd and 3rd degree country roads; and I also like the clean look of my bike for now. Let's see what the future may bring...
Hi Murdo, How much different is the dart screen compared the stock Triumph, mine does not give me helmet turbulence, 5'11 but round shouldered. My bike is Cranberry and Silver.
Sorry John, I've no idea - I've never seen a Triumph screen. The Dart came off my T100 and went on the T120 without mods so I never looked at other alternatives. These things are very subjective so if you like what you have then I'd stick with that Stuart
My T100 came without a screen but I bought a Triumph screen off fleabay, it was even the right colour! I'm 5' 11" and yes there is a difference, not around the head but definitely stops the body acting like an air brake. When out for a 'B' road bimble there's no noticeable difference. On longer runs at 'A' road and motorway speeds I no longer need to hang on or lean into the wind hitting me in the chest. No more aching forearms so a very relaxed ride.
Doesn't the bike look so much better with the gaiters on. I fitted some to my Bonnie and at the same time put Hagon progressive springs in which has made for a comfier ride.
Looking very nice, Carleton! Quick question, what is the exhaust? Is it a TEC 2-2 Sprint (the short one)?
May I ask you a couple of questions then? I'm considering buying it. 1) It looks like you're using it without the baffles. Is it not obnoxiously loud? As in, can you fire it up at night in a residential area without waking up half the neighbourhood? 2) Did you just take out the AI, and install an Arrows map? 3) Is there enough clearance on the right side of the back wheel to stick a torque wrench in there, when undoing the axle bolt? (my T100 is ridiculous, you need to take off the exhaust if you want to torque up the back wheel correctly, after stretching the chain) Thanks a lot!
No probs! Yeah running with out baffles, it gives HD's a run for them r money, I love it but you are gonna really piss of the neighbourhood in the early hours. The baffles really quieten it down and take 1min to fit with the cir clip. I even shortened the baffle a bit but I am addicted to the straight thru sound. Removed the AI and 02 sensors and also upgraded the filter and removed the air box baffle. Not necessary to do all but as your remapping might as well. Remapped with tuneecu from twin power. No probs with axle bolt, I don't have one but apparently you can't hav a centre stand! All in all pretty happy with the exhaust for the money, the welds are a little agricultural compared to £1000 Exhaust but I like it the look of it! Hope me that helps, I will give more than 1 letter answers!
That's brilliant, thanks a million! Plenty of food for thought. They're out of stock at TEC for the moment, so that leaves me some time to sort out how to do all the other bits and bobs. I see the header pipes get as messy as the standards (I was hoping removing the AI would decrease the blueing). I'm considering wrapping them.
Only got the bike on Friday so haven't done anything except change the silencers and take a few pics of it!
