Hi there good to see you are still managing to get some time on the bike. I have attached some pics of the setup on my CRK Kit hope clear enough. i did completely replace the rear cylinder as was v rusty, incidentally the cost of complete new unit not much more than a seal kit !!
I see yours is an early bike where the drag link has pinch bolts. I have recently seen many of them that have failed, whether it is due to ham fisted previous owners or stress (I suspect its ham fistedness) but keep an eye on it. Later ones are solid with a grub screw, so the factory must have found it was a problem.
So here is my issue - as you can see from the below the footpeg holders are offset not straight and not sure if this was to accommodate a smaller/bigger rider at some point or what the deal is. I am also not sure if this will make a difference - could i just use them anyway?
Best fitting them and see how they feel with your foot alignment. You will know if they are not right, they need to be comfy and safe.
Its more about whether they work with the CRK kit we have as the instructions show a straight version. Looking online i cant see an offset part so really not sure where these have come from.
Looks like they may have come off a different set up to your CRK kit. All you can do is try them, if they cannot be accommodated you may be better contacting CRK for their recommendation.
Hi, They have definitely been modified at some time in the past. Would get another set off ebay and chuck those away. Those Allen key bolts do take some shifting btw.
I had this with my build. Needed the straight mounts. I also couldn't get the allen bolts out and ended up drilling them to get the rest of the rear set parts and bought just the foot peg holders on ebay to replace them.
Aaaah great thank you Matt - I have ordered originals from World of Triumph as they are only a fiver each. Out of interest - Was your brake spring too long too or did it work? Mine looks a lot longer than the one pictured in the manual!
Esteemed members.... I need some advice regarding my engine. I have now finished spraying and sanded back the logo and lined areas and really love the look. I have used Simoniz Tough Black paint. My question is - do i need to now spray it with a clear coat? I have bought XHT CLear Laquer (https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Vehicle-..._1?ie=UTF8&qid=1494229592&sr=8-1&keywords=xht) but really dont want to lose the flat black look it has now. Any advice?? PS: ordered the footpeg pivot parts and they sent me the same ones i already have . I have no ordered ones from a Trophy and hope they do the job. Out of interest which ebay ones did the job ??
That looks fantastic! I would contact the suppliers of both your paint and laquer and ask for their technical advice, unless we have a knowlegeable forum member who can advise.
[QUOTE=" PS: ordered the footpeg pivot parts and they sent me the same ones i already have . I have no ordered ones from a Trophy and hope they do the job. Out of interest which ebay ones did the job ??[/QUOTE] Nice work on the engine - looks super clean! The pegs off the trophy are the offset ones which don't fit with the kit!! You need the Daytona ones or I think the ones off the sprint - they have to be the straight kind!!
HI Matt, My bike is a Daytona and I ordered the Daytona parts which on the diagram looked straight but weren't. The trophy has 2 different kinds, the one is same part number as the ones i have so assuming those are the offset ones so I have ordered the other ones. Apparently there are 3 splits on the Daytona VINs and they are all slightly different. Hopefully I will get them soon. Can anyone point me to the ebay ones that worked - may have to go that route.
mine was a 1992 Trophy, the vin last 6 digits are 002415 so assume the early ones are those you want, i changed the heel plates on mine for the later Daytona.
Hi all, Well its been a long time coming but i finally some time in the man cave and managed to get quite a bit done. First up i got the front end sorted and got the new lights and clock assembly in and wired. I then turned my attention to the rear and got the foot pegs and linkages sorted: I could then finally get the engine back in and could not help but doing a test fit of the exhausts. Not sure if you are allowed swearing on this forum but f*$k they look good (IMO ) So close now and a few more small jobs to do before final body fitting and getting it off to point. Looks lik ei May be able to get a ride in this summer after all!!
