    Hi all.

I picked up a new Speed Triple R in flat grey last week from Bulldog Triumph my local dealer . My previous bikes having been a 690 Duke, 1190 ADV and lastly a 2014 BMW S1000R.

The KTMs had reliability issues so didn't inspire longevity.
The BMW was fun but the engine was a bag of spanners and the build quality was nothing compared to the Speed.

Although a little down on power the Speed Triple has everything going for it and dare I say it, it feels like a keeper!

    Loving the forum too!

    Ride safe and regards.

    Matt

Hi Matt, nice introduction, welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy the new bike very much. My previous bike was a MT09, or better known as the FZ09. Sold it and got the Triumph, same thing I told myself about it being a keeper. How did you find the 1190 Adventure? It's probably the only road bike from Ktm that I haven't owned yet...

    Angus,

The 1190 was a really good bike, big fast and fun. However the fuel pump/filter was susceptible to issues and hence my reliability comment. The engine was a little vibey at cruising speeds and this was an issue for me. I just wanted something a little sportier so traded it in for the BMW S1000R.

I think the Speed is just all round, a fantastic package!

    Extras on mine.

Twin Arrows with baffle removed. I love the twin can look.
    Extension fly shield.
Radiator (triumph) and oil cooler (evotech) grills.
    Crash bungs (evotech).
    Quick shifter.
    Triumph tank pad.

    First service done.

    A pic as suggested.

    Matt

Thanks for all the positive comments guys.

The quickshifter is a good addition to the bike. It's more for fun than a necessity, but I would be surprised if it doesn't shave a few tenths of the standing quarter and it makes the engine sound awesome as you go through the gears.

I took the long way home from work today and arrived with a smile on my face!

I was however surprised to see the traction control light on under moderate acceleration. I will have to try sport mode and see if it makes a difference.

    Ride safe all.

    Matt

Probably not much, when I rode to Poole and back on the Easter weekend, I had in Sport Mode and the Traction light was flashing like a disco ball if I tried to accelerate reasonably hard out of a round about or slow corner.
My suspicion is the tyres are too soft and track focussed and in the cooler temps they don't warm up enough to grip properly.
I will be playing with Rider and Track settings to check this, although the tyre wear may then increase a bit :D

I was beginning to think my bike was down on power. Used track mode today and now I am sure it's putting out what it should! It's amazing just how much the electronics hold the engine back.

    Happy again.

Make the most of the weather as it's going to get wet and cold soon.

    All the best
