HI, how are you? My name es Mark, im 33 and I am looking for a triumph. Before buy anything I used to search and discuss in forums where interesting people and ideas are really welcome.

Actually a dealer here has a 2015 newchurch and a street twin at the same price, both brand new.

    So im deciding between both.

    Best Regards!

Thank you sir for your welcome.

My doubt is that they are very similar, but the newchurch doesn t has all the security systems and is not air cooled.

And Im not sure is the newchurch worth the same price with the old tech inside.

I want a bike to spend free time, maybe go to work and do some travels (not main activity).

    Thank you again!

    Hi and welcome.
Street twin more modern and lighter to ride from the reports, Newchurch more old school, bit more stylish in my opinion, but is a heavier bike.
How tall are you? Big fella better on a Newchurch, shorter on street twin.

Whichever one, both great bikes. You'll love either.

Hi welcome, I have the Newchurch, it's a great base model for not too extravagant mods to make your own. The street looks to be a bit more out the box customised but sure you can change what you want with no issues.
Iam 6ft and just about get away with the low ride height, done all the usual performance mods and it has raw grunty power now which I like. Not compared it to the liquid cooled bikes but it gives me the grin factor every time I ride it!

Thank you guys. Thanks so much.

Im 6ft. Actually, i like more old school, but i dont have too much experience on route, so, my biggest doubt is that i am loosing the ABS, Traction Control, just to be a little nicer. Both cost the same, rare.

Here they told me that the newchurch is 2016, i thought it is a 2015 series. I am wrong?

Test rides are your best friend here.
Welcome to the forum. Neither of those bike will be extreme in their performance so shouldn't really need ABS etc. Just right hand control.
As long as you are braking correctly you shouldn't lock it up. Panick breaking is different but even then locking up the wheels can be avoided.
Even in panick mode you will be aware of it as you become more aware of what your tyres/breaks are doing. At least I do :)
So ride both if you can and see which you prefer. I quite like the looks of the Newchurch personally

The Newchurch was essentially the base model 865 efi Bonnie with a paint job. I have the SE. Same mag 17" wheels etc. Get the usual simple performance mods done on the Newchurch and you won't be disappointed. It's a cracking bike.

I also have a Street Twin, which imo, leaving aside styling, is simply a better all round bike. Lighter, more responsive, more agile, better power and torque for real world riding, plus all the modern stuff. I'm the opposite end of the spectrum to Privateer - a bit of a short arse with 29" inside leg (at a real stretch). We've ridden together on our Street Twins and both find it fits pretty much perfectly. I'm going to sell the SE and mod the ST.

For styling - Newchurch wins (and a great bike to ride)
For rideability - Street Twin wins (and a looker too imo)

Hi Mark, I used to own a T100 Efi which is comparable with the Newchurch as it has the same engine (360° crankshaft) and same capacity. 4 days ago I rode a 2017 T100 (270°crankshaft engine) which is comparable with the Speed Twin on which it is based.

IMho the Newchurch will feel heavy, vibey and relatively slow by comparison to the Speed Twin. It will also feel a bit taller.

The power band on the Speed Twin delivers more torque (better response) at low revs and is noticeably more economic on fuel. It also has ABS assisted brakes.

But facts don't really inform the decision when passions come into the equation. You need to ride both and decide for yourself which DO YOU PREFER ?

Awesome responses. Thank you so much.

My brain goes with ST and my heart with NCH.

I have given the last word to this forum, but when passion comes to the door, there is no good or bad choice.

Yep just whichever one works best for you. We have all chosen ours as they work for us.
I chose the THunderbird because it's low seat height and c of g works for me.
So test ride them both and make the best decision for you.

We all compromise in our selections on things such as looks, performance, ride ability etc in some way or other.
It's hard to advise some one else as to which bike to chose as it's comes down to what the individual wants from their bike at the end of the day.
What's important in a bike to me , most likely isn't the same as what you class as important.

Both of those bikes ( as any bike ) have pluses and negatives according to your individual choice and preference.

So as several of us have said test riding is important. I think it's the most important thing as it gives me an idea if I can live with a particular bike.

Apologies for jumping in on this thread, but what sort of tank range do you get from the Street Twin, is it a slightly smaller tank than the Bonneville SE?

    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum Mark.
Test ride and then it's your decision.
The bikes are not too dissimilar so I think whichever one you choose you will be satisfied.
    Both great bikes.

Not exactly sure of tank range on Street Twin, but certainly over 160 when I ride it fairly hard. On the Bonnie SE 865efi my bum will be twitching worrying about fueling up around 90-100 miles, and panting on fumes at 120. You def get way better fuel economy out of the ST.

That is good to know, I wondered if the range would be better on the ST despite the smaller tank due to the efficiency of the new engine. 140-160 is very respectable for a 12l tank.

I get a good 135 miles to a tank, fairly hard riding, well hard for me anyway. That is even after the performance mods.

Hi Mark and a warm welcome,

you really have a tough decision at hand there...
But everything that needed pointing out has been said by the others.

I should not be the one to mention this, since I am learning the hard way when it comes to it, but leave your brain just a little more room than your heart (55/45)
The heart looks at style and performance whereas the brain logs safety and practicability.

Yeah, yeah. I know, I sound like my dad now, but hey, I start to look like him too... :D

As the others said: both great bikes! (ST for me ;) )

    Have fun!
