My sprint sport leans over so far on the side stand it looks like the handle bars are holding it up,the stand has a kink in it but looks original i.e. not bent, are there any stands that fit that would pick it up a couple of inches? 99 sprint sport
Don't know of any alternatives, but I understand where you are coming from as my Trident does lean a bit more than is really necessary in my opinion. Not caused any problems though. Would a decent (straight!) used one be a better bet? Plenty on ebay as a rule.
I believe that a side stand from any of the early T300 models will do i.e. 750/900 Tridents, 900/1200 Trophies and 750/900/1000/1200 Daytonas, plus (possibly!) the Thunderbirds of that era. Not too sure about the 900 Tiger though!
thanks for that Steve, guess I'll go down to whiteways and look like a weirdo inspecting every-ones side stands
That should give 'em summat to talk about!! Don't forget your tape measure. I'll try to remember to measure mine for you tomorrow - just don't hold your breath!
As promised I got me tape measure out today:- bottom of foot to the bend is approx. 13cm bend to top of stand is approx. 14cm. I actually have about 7cm of wood under the sidestand when it is parked up at home which makes it easier to get my svelt (WHAT?) body through the door. Just make sure that the bracket that the stand is attached to is tight, to prevent too much lean. A couple of mms slack at the crankcase bolts translates to lots of mms movement at the bottom of the stand. Don't ask!!!
Took pictures of my bike on its side stand today. Hopefully will have time to upload (download??) them tomorrow. It may (not!) help.
Okay then ... pictures now up/down/wide loaded (delete as necessary) showing the angle of dangle on my Trident. Enjoy! Please note the last image is of a duck and is of no relevance to this thread in any way, shape or form. It is, however, a nice duck!
If it were plucked, the close proximity to the exhaust would cause it to be cooked gently whilst the bike is being ridden. Okay, so you'd have to stop every so often to turn the bird around for even cooking to be achieved, but what a convenient way of preparing a tasty meal. Race you to the patents office DD! With apologies to all vegans, vegetarians, ornithologists and twitchers everywhere!
Maybe I am just panicking about the stand,it is a very nice bike you have there Steve, now for some more pics hope you enjoy the ducks
Yes we really are quackers!! Sorry ... those voices in my head were too insistant - yet again! Bloody hell, Bogg! You're as daft as I am. I blame DD for encouraging me!! Your bike's angle of dangle does seem very similar to that of my bike.
I would like to be associated with the above comments. Is it fair to assume that the bread being taken to the pond is also past it's sell by date? Just asking!
thats the set of tyres I'm sending to @dilligaf in the other post the rear tyre is worse than that...I'm going for a set of avon storms...just waiting for payday bike should be on the road in 3 or 4 weeks with a bit of luck
havn't seen the piccies of the triumph but yes I do like this one..to blingy it isn't I plan to bling the 900 a bit next year after I've ridden it for a season and saved a bit of wonga
