That is a crazy auction. Had one once for riding about Dad's apple orchard. When the throttle cable snapped it forced me to take a pillion passenger to pull throttle cable with pliers. We had some spectacular offs trying to coordinate it.

Im not a great fan of me customizing , I just think you have companies, guys with degrees, guys with 30 years experience and access to 100 years of experience ,expertise, Then I come along and stick a wing on it cos the guy that sells wings or sells magazines that sells wing and things, say it looks fab or increases something and decreases something else.
    then look what happens. :p
Yeah I could nt see what was wrong with the mx5 either.

^ Have to agree 100%. I know as a reformed Harley owner I was guilty of drinking the customization Kool-Aid on occasion. Then I finally figured out that "chrome won't get you home". I have seen several similar aborted cars out here in Arizona. I wish I had a photo of one of the Mexican modified pickup trucks with the tiny diameter tires to share. What a waste of a perfectly good truck, lol.

In the 70s I helped design and manufacture an injection mould tool for a full face motorcycle helmet.
    For anybody interested read on:

    1) pattern maker creates a wooden 3-D 'core' model by hand @1:1 plus the required plastic thickness and plastic shrinkage allowance.
    3) castings are taken in epoxy resin from the 'core' model and split exactly on the centreline in two halves
    3) the cavity casting models are layered with wax which is the the exact thickness of the required plastic
    4) an epoxy resin 'core' casting is taken from the cavity castings.
    4) pre-toughened tool steels are copy milled from the cavity castings creating L/H and R/H 'side movers'
    5) the 'core' has to 'collapse' to allow the plastic moulding to come off the tool. ????
    6) tool steel quadrants of the 'core' are copy milled, heat treated and driven by a tapered central 'wedge'
    7) wedge forward = all core quadrants locked in position producing the full core form
    8) wedge retracted = all core quadrants move inwards allowing the helmet to be ejected from the tool.

All the pattern making and copy milling has now been replaced with CAD-CAM
I feel very fortunate to have been involved in both the old and the new methods.

    I just love engineering!

Jean Michelle Jare is far superior than kraftwerk. Kraftwerk sounds like some cheesy spread you would get out of ASDA or Tescos :D
