Took the bike out last night for a blast think there may not be that many more nice days left before winter sets in. A mate has already packed his Ducati away for the winter (he has a less cherished bike to ride) wondered who decides to pack their beloved away for the whole winter and when?

I personaly keep my bike on the road all year and take it out on the odd clear dry day when the salt is not down but even with careful washing and picking my days last winter, some of the plated fasteners have gone a little dull :frown:

I do a 50 mile run most weeks to see a mate and I go to Essex twice a month to see my Dad (150 miles round trip) right through the year. The only time I don't do the trip is if there's ice or snow about. I've been used to handguards and heated grips on the Tiger and GS so it could be a bit of a shock on the America  I may have to get some muffs this year (and a big can of ACF50 and a tub of chrome cleaner)

Well I've always had motocross bikes and trials bikes so the mud and rain just made things better!

I keep mine legal all year round just in case we get the odd dry weekend over the colder period. I wouldnt take my bike out in the wet weather as i just dont enjoy it & i end up spending the following week cleaning all the crud off of it again.
However, field bikes.... Definitely! Wouldnt even bother my arse taking my field bike out in decent weather.... No fun in that at all.

My Triumph is a much loved work horse, so I'll be out in the snow if it comes to it. Though I might try and pick up a cheap winter hack if the right thing comes up. Wish I'd never sold my old KLR650!

(Spanky: I'd like to say only in America, but they look like European plates!?!)

I tend to wrap mine up but keep it pointing the right way in case we have a dry spell.
Having said that, my stator or reg/rec has gone pop so I guess thats me done until I can find time to diagnose it and then afford it depending on what needs replacing

Too right mate. I reckon you would need to wear some kind of protective motorcycle clothing to ride in those conditions! Shorts & flip flops is the best attire for cruising around, obviously weather permittng.

I have a toy I wouldn't even ride in the wet, and a workhorse that'll be used everyday unless there's ice/snow down. Just not worth the bother to me in those conditions.

Unlike me mate who was on a promise, and with no other means of transport, attempted to visit said lady (10 miles away) in this

He cam off 3 times before calling it a day and asking me for a lift
