My old modified (Daytona stand) is not up to the job of lifting the Thruxton R. What do existing owners use /recommend?
I asked the guys at Flitwick Motorcycles for recommendations for my Street Twin. They recommended Harris which they use in the workshop. So that's what I'm buying there next week.
The Abba stands look great, it is a modular system so you can use it as a simple stand or a full bike lift. Check the Abba website before buying owt.
Good reminder. I liked the look of the Abba mentioned in another thread but the Bonneville and derivatives don't appear on the compatibility drop down. I've just emailed them re my Street Twin and mate's Street Cup and also asked about the Thruxton.
R&G Elevation here. Can't say Is recommend it though. It's ok when the bikes up, but getting it there (or down) is always a twitchy bum affair. I think it raises the rear wheel too high.
I've got a Ducati and a Constands both great quality but lift the bike far too high, it's not the stands it's the position of the bobbins, they're very low on the swing arm. Think there's a manufacture that makes bobbins that fix onto the axle bolts which are about 2 inches higher.
Thanks all. I think I'll try contacting the Abba stand suppliers to see if they produce the kit for mine?
As Abba don't make the fitments for the 1200 yet, I've ordered the same paddock stand my dealer uses. Thanks for all the help and advice.
Got a reply from Abba. Nothing to suit the new classics aka Bonnies as of yet. Watch this space they say.
I have a constands for the rear, and just got a Warrior head stand from Demon Tweaks. The head stand is a really good piece of kit. Dead easy to use, and leaves the front end free to take wheel off etc. Ordered it 4 o'clock yesterday, it was here by 11:30 today, £48.70! Very happy with it.
