After draining for 20 minutes, hold a rag over the end and place in a vice at the bottom (black) end. Use a T30 with extensions to put up the fork end to remove the locknut. This requires and quick wrench to pop the grip and allow removal. If the whole unit turns use an old wooden handle to hold the insides
